Welcome to a brand new year at the ICCRI! The Calendar is full of your old favorites as well a new events that will ensure that everyone will find something of interest! Check back often as new events are always being planned!

February Events

February 3rd: Valentine's Pub Night:. Music by Kate Halloran. 7-11PM.

February 4th: Ceili and Set Dance with Devine's Diner 8-11PM: Devine's Diner returns for the ICCRI monthly Set and Ceili Dance. All dances called by Pat and Barry Callahan. $10. Pub will be open. Devine’s Diner - made up of local musicians Jimmy and Hannah Devine on fiddles with keyboardist Teddi Scobi providing the back beat, “Devine’s Diner” cooks up a tasty mix of Irish tunes for set and céilí dancing at various venues around Rhode Island and the New England area.

February 6th: Art and Joe's Ceilidhe Club Superbowl Party 6:30PM: Potluck - bring your favorite appetizer, dish or dessert. Enjoy watching the game on the Club's latest addition!

February 10th: Kevin O'Hara Lecture and Book Signing: Author of "The Last of the Donkey Pilgrims - A Man's Journey Through Ireland" Kevin’s journey began as a mad lark: who in the world would convince themselves that they could circle the entire coastline of Ireland walking alongside a donkey and cart. On his unforgettable journey, Kevin meets some of the more colorful examples of Irish wit, humor, (and temper), and through adversity, sheer folly, and some joy, finds out just the sort of fellow he’d become...and the man he could be. Told with humor and love, Last of the Donkey Pilgrims is a book for those who need to make the journey of the soul . . . and those who wish they could. 7:30PM.

February 11th: Disco Night: DJ Jimmy Hindle (formerly of Barry's Disco) 7:30 - 11:30, $8.00 per person. Come in your best disco attire for a dancin' good time!

February 16th: Kevin Burke in Concert:World renowned Irish Fiddler, Kevin Burke's fiddle playing has been at the forefront of traditional music for over 30 years. He has been established as a first class musician ever since his work in the early 1970's (with such renowned performers as Arlo Guthrie, Christy Moore and the Bothy Band and with his far-reaching solo album, "If the Cap Fits"). Kevin has earned international acclaim in both Europe and America as a solo performer, a teacher and as a member of some of folk music's foremost groups including the exciting Celtic Fiddle Festival and Ireland's long admired Patrick Street. Kevin's contribution to music was acknowledged by The National Endowment for the Arts when he was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship, the USA's highest honor for excellence in the folk and traditional arts. 8:00 - $20.00 per person or Valentine's Special $35 per . February 17th: Monthly Meetings Night: General Meeting 7:30PM. Committee Meetings to follow.

February 17th: Pub Open: 8PM:Live Traditional Irish Session: Open music session with Jim Devine and other local musicians. 8PM – 11PM-ish. Intermediate and Advanced skill levels - so please bring your party piece and have some fun! Free admission for all – Pub is open and desserts available!

February 23rd: Irish Knitting Classes Begin: Instruction by Paula Dodd. 6:30-7:30PM. 10 weeks @$60.00. No experience necessary - beginners welcome. Basics will be taught. More advanced knitters will learn cable stitches and Aran patterns.

February 24th: Ceili Dance Lessons: Boston Teacher Annie Hennessey teaches progressive and set Ceili Dances. No partner or experience necessary. 8-9:30 PM. $7 per person - pay as you go.

February 26th: Corned Beef Dinner Dance 3-7PM:.Music by John Connors and Martin Battle with harpist Mary King opening at 2:15PM. Food by Patrick's Pub. Please call the Club at 944-3233 for reservations (we need a head count for Patrick's Pub).

Ongoing February Events: Mondays: Set Dance Workshop 7:15-9:15PM. Dances taught by Pat and Barry Callahan. No experience or partner necessary. $6.00 - pay as you go.

March Events

March 2nd: Concert with All-Ireland Fiddle Champion Sheila Falls and Tim Keohane:. 8PM $10 per person. Pub will be open from 7-11PM.

March 10th: Providence St. Patrick's Day Parade: 12PM. Route from Smith Hill to the State House. Pub will be open following the parade.

March 12th: Classes resuming at the ICCRI: Classes in Traditional Singing, Whistle, Fiddle and Irish Language will be starting. Stay tuned to this page or the Classes page for updated information and regisatration.

March 17th: St. Patrick's Day Mass and Flag Raising: 10:AM with pub open following the flag raising. Music by the Amadan's. Pub open to 2PM.

Special Requests

Honor Guard Committee: Anyone interest in being on the Honor Guard should call or write Art Curry at (401) 739-6633 or alc2848@aol.com. If needed, members on the committee will be called and if available, will meet him at the church for funeral services for deceased members and their families.

Landscaping Committee: Anyone interested in being on the Landscaping Committee can call or write Art or Peg Curry at (401) 739-6633 or email Art at alc2848@aol.com. The purpose would be to get some ideas for the Club's proprty and help plant in the spring. We need you, and as Art says, he does not have a green thumb!

Members Corner

General Meeting: The general membership meetings are held on the third Friday of every month at 7:30PM. Committees Meetings are held directly after the General Meetings.

Board Meetings: 1st Wednesday of every month. 7:00PM.

Electronic Newsletter: Our newsletter is available both through regular mail and email. If you would prefer to receive it electronically, please email Cathy Carvalho at cathycarvalho@ymail.com and you will be added to the list. Please also send Cathy any news you would like to share with Club members as well as photos.

Sunshine: Alice Hearn is our Sunshine person this year. If you know of any Club member that is ill, please phone her at 401-941-2651.
